Vice President, Child Development and Community Services
CHEO is one of the few stand-alone, global leaders in pediatric health and is home to nearly 4,500 staff and physicians dedicated to helping children and youth live their best lives. Within its own walls and through partnerships with community providers, CHEO has transformed from a 20th Century acute care hospital into a 21st Century integrated child and youth health system. Ranked in the top 1% of Canadian hospitals for the digitization of its clinical infrastructure, CHEO combines excellence in clinical care, research, and education to advance seamless care that’s provided where, when, and how it is needed. CHEO’s Research Institute is dedicated to world-class clinical, translational, and basic science research covering a wide range of children’s health concerns. Working across all CHEO programs, it involves tens of thousands of kids and families research projects that create new knowledge and improve care locally and around the globe. In the coming years, the CHEO campus will undergo a redevelopment, which will include a state-of-the-art integrated treatment facility built on cutting edge discovery, quality improvement, and new technology. This capital project will provide a significant opportunity to strengthen the relationship between development, autism, community partners, and research, and to truly offer integrated, wrap-around services for children who have multiple and complex needs.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Clinical Services, the Vice President of Child Development and Community Services is responsible for advancing the overall direction and delivery of CHEO programs that support children with physical and developmental differences, genetic conditions, and who are dealing with life-limiting circumstances. This includes clinical and diagnostic outpatient programs at the hospital, providing support to CHEO’s acute care departments and delivering care in homes, schools and community settings across the region. As a valued member of CHEO’s Executive Team, you will serve as the Executive Lead for regional and provincial initiatives that support families, providers, and organizations in building an exceptional patient experience and better connect care, including CHEO’s engagement in the emerging Ontario Health Team structure, provincial pediatric bodies and regional and community-based program delivery. You will lead a motivated and high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, shared accountability and collegiality.
As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic and grounded executive leader who possesses a minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in a complex, multi-service organization, and preferably a Master’s (or equivalent advanced) degree. You effectively balance big-picture thinking with data-driven thoughtfulness, allowing you to solve complex problems. Colleagues describe you as an inspirational leader who drives change, clearly articulates a vision, and creates environments that encourage flexibility, creativity, risk-taking, innovation, and improvement through transparency. You are recognized for your ability to build and maintain deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners, and you cultivate a feeling of energy, excitement, and optimism amongst your peers, leaving them motivated to consistently push for improved performance and productivity. Your previous healthcare experience would serve you well, as would your ability to communicate effectively in both official languages.
